SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Redevelopment Commission sent a loud message of support to the Syracuse Town Council regarding Aluminum Insights during its meeting Tuesday night, April 20.
The commission gave its blessing on a confirmatory declaration for tax abatement as well as approved a fiber optic easement for the company.
Since showing interest in the Syracuse Technology Park, Aluminum Insight’s project has continued to grow. It recently purchased Lot No. 1 after another company pulled out. Larry Siegel, president of the redevelopment commission explained the company was working with AT&T to move a fiber optic cable to the north side of the lot so it goes between two lots Aluminum Insights intends to purchase. Since the sale of the property wasn’t complete, the commission had to approve the easement.
Siegel also mentioned an annual report for the state has been completed and turned in.
The redevelopment commission also approved combining several easements into one for a new road that needs to be constructed in the technology park. Most of the funding for the easement has been collected from property taxes paid into the Tax Increment Finance District.
The commission elected officers with Siegel elected president; Jeff Goralczyk, vice president; and Cory Mast, secretary. Siegel said he hoped to get Goralczyk and Mast more informed in the development of the town.
